The village of Gontsy is located on the right Bank of the Uday river, upstream adjoins the village of Dukhovo, downstream at a distance of 4 km is the village of Gorobii, on the opposite Bank-the village of Netratovka (Chernukhinsky district). The river in this place is meandering, forming estuaries, old trees and swampy lakes.
Before the revolution of 1917, the village was part of Tarandintsevo volost of Lubensk uyezd, Poltava province of the Russian Empire.
The objects of the social sphere
Gontsovskaya site of the late Paleolithic period (15-13 thousand BC). It was discovered in 1873 by the archaeologist F. I. Kaminsky, and was excavated in 1935 by A. ya. Bryusov, I. F. Levitsky and I. G. Pidoplichka.
